This violin was made by Camille in the same year he won a medal at the Wembley Exposition (England), perhaps at the height of his powers. His work was admired by violinists like Thibaud, Kreisler, and Ysaye. He copied Thibaud’s Stradivari (presumably this 1709 one) and this may be a copy of such.
The sound reminds me of a fine Vuillaume I tried once – plays like a Strad with good response and a colorful tone across all strings. The E string is particularly stunning with lots of sizzle.
